Looking to get pain relief? Myofascial Release Massage may be just what you need!
Myofascia is a three-dimensional web of connective tissue that attaches, stabilizes, encloses, and separates muscles. This web goes from the very superficial layers of muscle tissue all the way down, deep into the bone.
Myofascial Release primarily utilizes broad, gentle pressure to release (melt), stretch, and loosen the myofascial, bringing it back to its naturally flexible state. Firmer pressure can be used to break up adhesions.
Many clients seek Myofascial Release after losing flexibility or function from chronic or acute injuries and trauma, but it has a wide variety of applications. Some examples are whiplash, T.M.J disorder and migraine headaches.
Restrictive tightening and adhesions in this tissue can cause myofascial pain and reduce mobility in muscles and joints by shortening muscles. This usually coincides with imbalances in the body, whether from trauma and/or just how we are.
